- Heat warning this week: As temperatures start to climb this week, the Middlesex-London Health Unit has issued a heat warning for the London area. Environment Canada says temperatures climbing as high as 35, feeling like 41 with the humidex. People are reminded to stay hydrated and stay cool. London is offering several Cooling centres throughout the city for anyone that needs it.
- Muslim family murderer trial begins: The long awaited trial of Nathaniel Veltman is now underway in a Windsor courtroom. Veltman is accused of intentionally running over a muslim family going for an evening walk in 2021. The terrorist attack killed four and injured one. Nathaniel was charged with four counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Veltman has since pleaded not guilty.
- Ford reviews Greenbelt sites after cabinet shuffle: Since the resignation of former Housing Minister Steve Clark, Premier Doug Ford had a cabinet shuffle over the Labour Day weekend. Ford also promised to review the 15 remaining sites he had planned for development on the Greenbelt. As a result of the cabinet shuffle, Elgin-Middlesex-LondonMPP Rob Flack has become the Associate Minister of Housing in specific with affordable housing.
- School’s back in session: With children back in school now, London Police and OPP would like to remind people to slow down and be more cautious as there will be lots more school buses on the roads. CAA conducted a survey saying that 82% of parents have witnessed dangerous driving in school zones. Drivers can expect more police presence in school zones.
- Road closures: Wilton Grove between Hubrey and Sise Rd will be closed until Friday for CN rail repairs. Second rail bridge lift will be underway at the Adelaide St underpass. Adelaide between McMahon and Elias St will be closed September 7-9th.
