Baby Yoda and his adoptive guardian swept North American box office over the weekend. Disney’s “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” made the jump from streaming to the big screen and blasted to first place with an estimated $102M take through today’s U.S. Memorial Day holiday. “Obsession” earned $28.5 million in sales in its second weekend, good enough for second spot and “Michael” was close behind in third place. The Michael Jackson biopic is nearing $800 million globally.
ICYMI, Miley Cyrus received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, and she got emotional as she thanked everyone who helped her along the way. While her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, was not in attendance, Miley did give him a shout out. She said recently that they are no longer estranged following a falling out in 2022.
Tom Hanks has a new Docuseries, debuting on the History channel today. “World War II With Tom Hanks” is told over twenty hours and captures everything from the rise of fascism in Europe to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Two episodes arrive today.
And Rob Base (real name Robert Ginyard) of the duo Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock, passed away Friday after a battle with cancer. He had just turned 59 four days earlier.
