Following the success of The Housemaid, Paul Feig is looking to get even darker with his next thriller, as he is coming on to direct Detention for Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Platinum Dunes. The spec was written by Daniel Gold, with Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller, Cameron Fuller, Feig and Laura Fischer on as producers.

Free Willy is swimming its way to the big screen for a new generation.

Warner Bros. and the Russo brothers’ AGBO are partnering on a reimagining of the 1993 adventure movie, tapping Mary-Margaret Kunze and Jade Halley Bartlett for the screenplay.

The original Free Willy follows a troubled preteen who finds his purpose to free an aging orca that was captured from the wild and put into a local aquarium as a tourist attraction. The beloved ’90s movie became a franchise that spanned numerous theatrical and home video releases.

The wait is almost over for American Horror Story fans. FX has set Thursday, September 24, at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT for the premiere of the show’s 13th season. The Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk series will also stream on Disney+ internationally. 

Details regarding what the 13th installment will focus on are under wraps. The previously announced cast includes Ariana Grande, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, John Waters, and Leslie Grossman. Additionally, John Carroll Lynch, Mena Suvari, and Matt Fraser are said to be returning as characters they’ve played in other AHS installments.
