Celebrity Status: Game Of Thrones Meets Harry Potter
August 25, 2026 9:33 amKit Harington will now play Gilderoy Lockhart in Season 2 of HBO‘s “Harry Potter” series, replacing Nicholas Hoult, who exited the production due to scheduling conflicts.
The “Game of Thrones” star recently voiced Lockhart, who is central to the plot of second book “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” in Audible’s “Harry Potter” audiobooks late last year. Lockhart, a famous yet arrogant wizard known for his many heroic acts, becomes the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts — and it’s soon made clear that he isn’t qualified for the job. He was portrayed by Kenneth Branagh in the 2002 “Chamber of Secrets” film.

A “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” sequel is in the works at Paramount, with original star Kate Hudson attached to produce the project, Variety can report exclusively.
Development on the sequel is in early stages, with the cast and several key creative roles yet to be selected, according to a source close to the project. The intention of the filmmakers and the studio is to have Hudson and her co-star from the original, Matthew McConaughey, reprise their roles.

An eighth season of “Black Mirror” is officially in production, Variety can confirm.
The show started shooting this summer, although no launch date for the new season has been set yet.
The news comes as Netflix also confirms Season 2 orders for hit Neil Forsyth drama “Legends,” about a group of undercover customers officers, and reality series “Being Gordon Ramsay,” about the iconic chef and his growing family. The streamer also today confirmed “The Gentlemen” is set to return for a third season (Season 2 launched Sept. 3).
