Celebrity Status – TIFF, Paris Is Single, And Barbie 2 — Or Maybe Not?

For Thursday, August 13th:

The New York Times reported recently that a follow-up to “Barbie” — which was the highest-grossing movie in Warner Bros. history — might NOT be happening now. Talks have stalled as Warner Bros. Discovery takes a stand against the massive — but possibly justifiable — pay demands of the creative team. It’s expected to be a showdown more dramatic than a “beach-off ” between all the Kens! And Warner Bros. now has roughly four months to put another “Barbie” movie into active development, or the rights will revert to toymaker Mattel.

During the Aug. 12 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Paris Jackson confirmed she called off her engagement to music producer Justin Long, calling it a ‘choice I needed to make’… and then revealed that she’s been engaged twice. She didn’t name names though.

Nick Reiner has been indicted on charges of murdering his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, as prosecutors try to expedite the process of getting to a trial. He has been held without bail since the day his parents’ bodies were found in their Brentwood home last December. Added to the charges is a new special circumstance of “lying in wait.” He has pleaded not guilty.

‘Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple’ is a documentary about Rush drummer Neil Peart. It will premiere at TIFF next month.

And Noah Schnapp, best known as Will Byers in “Stranger Things,” is set to make his world stage debut in London as the star of “Affluenza”. The play is set amid the ultra-wealthy of the Hamptons. (feel free to read that last part in a rich accent lol)
