Madonna will open the VMAs with her first live performance at the show in 23 years. She hasn’t performed there since 2003 alongside Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. She also leads the pack with 11 VMA nominations. Other performers include Raye, Blackpink’s LISA and Shaboozey… and Nirvana will receive the MTV Video Vanguard Award. The VMAs will be handed out September 27th
New at the movies this weekend, Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe smuggle a fortune in gold in ‘The Weight,’ set during the height of the Great Depression. Also, Austin Abrams from “Weapons” plays a medical courier fending off viral beasties in the reboot of ‘Resident Evil’… And in ‘The Beast of Mossy Bottom’ — the latest Shaun the Sheep movie — a wild beast appears in the woods on Halloween Eve.
Elsewhere, Jessica Chastain will star in Netflix’s upcoming “The Retrievals” as part of a group of IVF patients who were operated on without anesthesia at the Yale Fertility Center, because a nurse was stealing the fentanyl. She then becomes a key plaintiff in the historic lawsuit against Yale. No release date yet.
On the small screen, ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ has its season 2 premiere tonight. Find it on the W Network in Canada… and the season finale of Lioness with Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman arrives Sunday on Paramount +.
A week ago, we found out Lady Gaga and fiancé Michael Polansky had a baby in June, and now they’ve revealed their baby’s name. PEOPLE confirmed the couple named their first child Rose Bean Polansky.
