Sydney Sweeney strips down to talk “sports” in a new ad promoting Novig, a sports prediction market. She protects her modesty, though, with an assortment of strategically-placed sports equipment. Sweeney had a hand in creating the ad and is also an equity partner with Novig. Not sure those watching the ad are going to remember what it’s for though…

This week, Saturday Night Live revealed the first hosts and musical guests for season 52. New York Knicks star and the NBA’s finals MVP for 2026, Jalen Brunson and girl group Katseye will kick off the new season on September 26th. The following week, Dakota Johnson will host. Meanwhile, across the pond… the UK version of SNL premieres this Saturday with Jeff Goldblum hosting the opening episode.

You can’t always see the stars from Toronto, but they will be out in full force starting today. The Toronto International Film Festival gets underway and runs until Sept. 20th. Penélope Cruz will be there to receive the TIFF Special Tribute Award and to promote Bunker alongside Javier Bardem. Other notable names include Channing Tatum, Seth Rogen, Cynthia Erivo, Cate Blanchett and Helen Mirren

Several newly discovered species of plant-feeding insects in Australia have been named after Taylor Swift. The four species have been bestowed names that all start with Swiftiephylus and second names taylorae, amator, intrepidus, and poetorum, which are Latin versions of “Taylor,” “lover,” “fearless” and “poets.”

And in case you wondered where Michael Bublé goes to celebrate his birthday, let’s just say it’s less high-brow than you might think. Bublé posted a video to his socials for his birthday yesterday showing him at White Spot with a Pirate Pak meal and a candle in one of his burgers.
