Celebrity Status – Box Office Bomb, Taylor Surprises Dakota, And RIP Sass Jordan

For Monday, October 5th:

Tom Cruise dug a hole he may not be able to get of, as ‘Digger’ opened to spectacularly poor numbers at the box office this weekend. It took in just $8 million domestically and $20 million globally. The Colleen Hoover adaptation ‘Verity’ starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, took the No. 1 spot with $32.6 million domestically. ‘Resident Evil’ was in second and ‘Heart of the Beast’ with Brad Pitt snagged the No. 3 spot.

Taylor Swift made a surprise Saturday Night Live cameo this past weekend. She showed up in the middle of her friend Dakota Johnson’s opening monologue. Then later during the goodnights, as Johnson bid farewell to the crowd, Swift popped out to present her with a birthday cake!

Danny McBride and Paramount Pictures have found their Duke to lead the troops in their new G.I. Joe movie, as sources tell Deadline Bradley Cooper is set to star as the military unit leader in the latest film based on the Hasbro toy line.

ICYMI: Sad news from the Canadian music scene… Sass Jordan passed away on Friday, surrounded by her family. Cause of death has not been officially released, but it has been reported that she had cancer. Sass Jordan was 63. After Kevin Costner heard her voice on his car radio, she recorded the duet Trust in Me with Joe Cocker for The Bodyguard
