Celebrity Status – The Pitt, SNL, Russell Goes To Jail And Christmas Goes To The Dogs
November 6, 2026 9:04 amFor Friday, November 6th:
Russell Brand, actor, comedian and Katy Perry’s ex, was convicted Thursday on three counts of sexual assault and one count of rape in his London criminal trial. He was found not guilty of three other charges. Bail was not extended and he will be back in court on Monday to receive his sentence.
An appeals court ruled on Wednesday that “The Pitt” is similar enough to “ER” to allow Michael Crichton’s widow to pursue a lawsuit. The late Michael Crichton was the creator of ER and had a “frozen rights” provision in his contract with Warner Bros. that blocked spin-offs or remakes. Warner Bros. Television is arguing that the two shows are unrelated.
At the movies, the biopic “I Play Rocky” tells the story of a then-unknown actor and writer called Sylvester Stallone trying to make a movie called Rocky, which would go on to win three Oscars including Best Picture. Anthony Ippolito plays Stallone. Also in theaters: Wild Horse Nine, starring John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell… and Godzilla Minus Zero. Plus, Bill Hader voices a new version of “The Cat in the Hat.”
And if all the Hallmark movies aren’t your thing at Christmas, maybe Netflix has the story you need: a basset hound narrates the story of a family facing turmoil in ‘A Dog’s Perfect Christmas’. It stars Dennis Quaid and Mary Steenbergen, and there’s a little corgi too!
Also coming up this weekend… the docuseries ‘Awkwafina: The Unlikely Cook’ has its debut on Apple TV
And Saturday Night Live has host Druski with musical guest The Strokes.
