Celebrity Status – Taylor, Matt, Movies And More!

Yesterday, Taylor Swift became the youngest woman ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She thanked her family for the sacrifices they made for her career, as part of her epic 21-minute acceptance speech at the ceremony.

Matt Damon is ready to reawaken the Bourne franchise. It has been ten years since the last Bourne film, and he says they’re always thinking about a potential next movie, so if you have some ideas he will gladly accept them.

At the movies this weekend, Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor play strangers with a mysterious connection to each other who are trying to reveal the truth about alien life in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day’… and on Netflix the dark fantasy horror musical ‘I am Frankelda’ is produced by Guillermo Del Toro and is the first stop-motion animation project to come out of Mexico.

Also on Netflix is the series premiere of The Polygamist, about a self-made CEO and banker whose empire begins to unravel as his wife, a secret second wife, his mistress AND girlfriend all become aware their lives aren’t what they thought.

The Last of Us is adding a wholly original character to season 3. Peter Sarsgaard will play a character not featured in the video games. And with the FIFA World Cup tournament coming to Vancouver — where The Last of Us is filmed — the show will go on hiatus for about 5 weeks.

And the arrival of the World Cup also means opening ceremonies this afternoon in Toronto. Among the artists performing are Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Michael Bublé and more. Festivities start at 1:30 with Canada’s first game getting underway at 3pm
