Celebrity Status – Movies, VMAs, SNL, And TS: The Encore

For Friday, September 25th:

Today is the day for Taylor Swift‘s partially new album ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’ with four new tracks, and the video for Patient Zero comes our way on Sunday, with Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell starring. She is expected to premiere the video during the MTV VMAs Sunday night.

Madonna leads the VMAs with 11 nominations, followed by Taylor with nine. Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter each earned seven, and Bruno Mars has 6. Presenters include Alex Warren, Charli xcx, David Corenswet, Jeff Probst, and more. Snoop Dogg will host the show, which will open with Madonna’s first VMA performance in 23 years.

At the movies, ‘Primetime’ is a psychological crime thriller starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen from To Catch a Predator. Phoebe Bridgers also stars. The animated ‘Forgotten Island’ is about Best friends who stumble upon a mysterious portal that transports them to a fantastical island filled with magical creatures.

And in ‘Heart of the Beast’… after surviving a plane crash, a former special forces soldier, played by Brad Pitt, finds himself trapped in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness with his combat dog. Good news: The film actually starts with a flash-forward scene showing Odin the dog so we don’t have to worry about his fate through the whole movie.

U2 has announced it will celebrate its 50th anniversary later this year with the release of its 16th studio album. Carnaval De Luz features collaborations with Ryan Tedder, Martin Garrix, and Daniel Lanois, as well as the final vocal performance from Dolly Parton. Look for it November 13th. 

And Saturday Night Live returns this weekend for its 52nd season with New York Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson hosting alongside musical guest KATSEYE.
