Luke Combs Receives Honorary Degree From Appalachian State University
May 12, 2026 10:20 amLuke Combs received an honorary degree from Appalachian State University during Spring commencement ceremonies.
He attended the school from 2008 to 2012, studying criminal justice, but left 20 credit hours short of graduation.
Nonetheless, Chancellor Heather Norris said Combs “represents the character and heart of a Mountaineer” and “inspires our students to dream big, work hard, and always remember where they came from.”
While at college, Combs chose music over traditional college life, leaving a fraternity pledge process to stay with an a cappella singing group.
“I was like, ‘Well, I’m doing that dude. I’m out!'” Combs explained about picking music over fraternity life.
