Cody Johnson Defends Alaska Bear Hunt As “Conservation” Effort

Cody Johnson responded to criticism over his recent Alaska grizzly bear hunt, calling critics hypocritical.

He took a 10-day hunting trip in May, leaving the morning after the ACM Awards and sharing photos on May 26th.

During an interview, Johnson defended the hunt as conservation work.

“When you don’t control a predator population like a grizzly bear, it can get out of control really fast.”

He said the hunt helps preserve moose and caribou populations, calling it “a meat-harvesting hunt” and “a conservationist effort tag.”

Johnson noted Alaskans praised his efforts while addressing online critics.

“It’s awful ironic that people would say, ‘How dare you kill this poor bear, but do you want to go eat at Chick-fil-A?'”
