Rhett Akins Invited To Join The Grand Ole Opry

Rhett Akins received a Grand Ole Opry membership invitation on June 28.

Fellow artist Jon Pardi surprised Akins on stage, saying, “Rhett Akins, I am here to invite you to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.”

Akins has written 36 No. 1 country hits for artists including Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, and Blake Shelton.

He is a two-time BMI Songwriter of the Year, a seven-time CMA Triple Play recipient, and was named the Academy of Country Music’s Songwriter of the Decade in 2019.

Akins was also inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2021.

“I have been listening to the Grand Ole Opry since I was a little kid,” Akins said.

His induction date will be announced later.
