Dolly Parton Accepts ACM Poet’s Award Virtually Following Health Concerns
August 23, 2026 12:00 pmDolly Parton received the Poet’s Award at the 19th ACM Honors ceremony in Nashville on Wednesday, August 19, accepting the honor virtually due to ongoing health concerns.
The 80-year-old accepted the award in a video message.
“Songwriting has been my therapy. Songwriting has been my release, my joy.”
Parton cited recent health issues, including dizziness and dehydration, as reasons for her absence.
She continues to work on her SongTeller Hotel, Life of Many Colors Museum and Broadway musical.
