Assistant Coach Jeff Green On Windsor’s St Clair Saints Championship Game

The Canadian Bowl, the oldest championship in Canadian football, will take place this Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. Clair College’s Acumen Stadium in Windsor, Ont. The 115th edition of the game features a matchup between the Okanagan Sun and the St. Clair Saints, with the Saints looking to claim their first Canadian Bowl title in 25 years. The Saints, formerly the AKO Fratmen, have a storied history, including three previous championships, the last in 1999.

The Okanagan Sun, based in Kelowna, B.C., are a dominant force in the CJFL, having won the Canadian Bowl three times, most recently in 2022. Though its name and format have evolved over time, and the game faced interruptions (during the world wars and the Great Depression), the championship has been a tradition since 1908

Tickets are selling fast for the game, and extra bleachers are being added to Acumen Stadium to accommodate the large expected crowd. Gates open at 5 p.m., with the game kicking off at 7 p.m.

Mike Regnier, from Windsor’s Country Drive Home, had the chance to chat with assistant coach, Jeff Green, about the big game:
