Juno Nominations Announced

Nominations for the Juno Awards have been announced! And two Canadian country acts got some EXTRA love. Read on…

Like the Grammy’s (its American counterpart), Canada’s Juno Awards historically don’t have a lot of country music content. In fact, there is just one category devoted to the genre (while also having 4 categories for classical music and 3 for jazz).  So when a country act is nominated for the all-genre categories, it’s a highlight.

The Washboard Union is the lone country act up for “Breakthrough Group of the Year.” Meanwhile, Meghan Patrick is the country representative for the all-genre “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” Award. She was also nominated for “Country Album of the Year”,  going up against albums from The Reklaws, Tim Hicks, Brett Kissel and Jess Moskaluke (who was nominated for her CHRISTMAS album.)

Meanwhile, the Slocan Ramblers, a group set to play Kingsville’s “Road to Folkfest Concert Series” on Feburuary 8th in Kingsville, was nominated in the “Roots Album of the Year” category.
