Dierks Bentley Says Brothers Osborne Changed Song
April 18, 2019 12:00 pmDierks Bentley joined with Brothers Osborne to celebrate their recent Number One hit, “Burning Man,” with a party in Nashville at a restaurant called Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint. The three spoke to media about the hit and the fact that Dierks thought the song was already perfect before John and TJ lent their talent to it.
In fact, Dierks said the version we hear of “Burning Man” with Brothers Osborne is completely different than the multiple versions he recorded prior to asking them to collaborate.
“It’s such a crazy journey with this song — the amount of times I recorded it. It was a perfect song before these guys came in on it. It was fully dialed. It was an amazing song, and I knew by bringing them in I’d have to kill that song. It’s not like they’re adding something to it. It’s a totally different song now, and so you have to have faith that like what you think is cool — I think they’re cool — and once you bring them in you can’t rescind it. I can’t be like, ‘Uh, guys, you know what? I’m gonna go with the original version, but . . .’ (John Osborne) And then we go on tour together. (Dierks) And then we go on tour together, (laughter) so it was such a leap of faith.”
Dierks continues on his Burning Man Tour 2019 with special guest John Pardi and newcomer Tenille Townes on May 30th in Cincinnati, OH.
