Carrie Underwood Being Sued For SNF Theme
June 20, 2019 4:28 amCarrie Underwood, her producer, Mark Bright, NBC, the NFL and others are being sued for copyright infringement.
California-based singer Heidi Merrill claims that Underwood’s version of the Sunday Night Football theme was stolen directly from her song, “Game On,” which Merrill says she posted to YouTube in 2017 and submitted to Mark Bright that same year in hopes that Underwood would record it for the 2018 NFL season.
TMZ reports that Merrill was eventually told Underwood’s camp passed on using “Game On,” so she was shocked to see a new song called “Game On” being promoted for Sunday Night Football.
At press time, Merrill is seeking an undetermined amount of money. So far, neither Underwood’s camp nor the NFL have commented on the suit.
