Carrie Underwood Teams Up With Joan Jett For SNF Opening
August 21, 2019 8:40 amNBC’s Sunday Night Football returns this fall with an all-new show open featuring Carrie Underwood for the seventh year in a row.
This year’s theme is a nod to the first-ever NBC SNF open in 2006 featuring a new rendition of the original “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” music pairing Carrie with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett.
The show open was adapted from Joan’s 1988 Top 10 hit “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”
Carrie invited Joan to join her in the show open, which will also feature several NFL stars. Details will be shared in the coming days. Carrie said,
“I have always been a huge fan of Joan’s, and I’m thrilled that she’s joining us for the Sunday Night Football open. What better way to pay homage to the original SNF opening song than by getting to play with her on primetime’s biggest stage?”
At halftime of this Sunday, August 25th night’s preseason game on NBC between the Pittsburgh Steelers at Tennessee Titans, a sneak preview of the SNF show open will air.
The full 2019 NBC Sunday Night Football show open will debut on Sunday, Sept. 8th as the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots host the Pittsburgh Steelers.
