It’s been confirmed that Luke Bryan will join Katy Perry and Lionel Richie at the judges table once again for the third season of American Idol on ABC.

The search for America’s next superstar began with auditions in Brooklyn, New York last month and will hit 21 cities across the country. Next up is Mobile, AL on August 20th.

The return of American Idol in the spring of 2020 reunites the show’s judges, as well as longtime host Ryan Seacrest.

While the bond between the four has solidified over the past two seasons, Luke said the most important aspect of the talent competition is the contestants.

“It’s always about the contestants. That’s what makes the show fun for us – the surprises, the talent, the youthfulness of the talent. I mean, we have so many 15, 16, 17-year-olds that are unbelievable, and watching them handle the pressure and have fun and the tears and the joy and the smile and all that. We love the role – me and Katie and Lionel and Ryan – we’re having a great time doing this, and to be able to facilitate these kids’ dreams is very special for us.”

American Idol hopefuls can audition in person or by submitting online videos via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #TheNextIdol. Contestants must be at least 15 years old to audition. For more information about the audition process, visit americanidol.com/auditions.
