Midland Wrote Latest Hit At The End Of The Day
October 22, 2019 4:00 pmMidland’s current hit single, “Mr. Lonely,” is one they wrote with their frequent collaborators, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne.
The song was written at group member Cameron Duddy’s house in Dripping Springs, TX, and as Cameron said it came about at the very end of the day.
“We blocked out two days together to write and I think everybody went to use the bathroom and have some lemonade, and we came back in and Jess had started vamping the chords with Josh. And Mr. Lonely was a guy, or at least a phrase that I heard Jess use before in his old project. I don’t think it was ever written in a song but there was an album called The Real Mr. Lonely. So, I don’t know if you recycled that or what, but this thing was happening when we walked in and it happened really fast. Everybody started throwing in, and we decided on this idea, and it just went pretty quickly.”
“Mr. Lonely” is the first release off Midland’s sophomore album, Let It Roll.
