After 20 years together, Rascal Flatts has announced their Farewell: Life Is A Highway Tour! The trio visited CBS This Morning on Tuesday, January 7th to announce the news. Gary LeVox said,
“When we started out 20 years ago, we could not imagine all of the people, places and gifts we would encounter. The greatest feeling ever is being told that our music has been the soundtrack to their lives . . . That’s why we create music and the reason we can’t wait to celebrate this incredible 20-year journey all year, with our fans who we love dearly. I don’t know what God has in store for the future, but I am excited to see what He has planned!”
Jay DeMarcus added,
“Rascal Flatts’ music will live on forever, because of our fans, and this year is all about them!”
The Farewell Tour celebrates the group’s 20th anniversary, something that Gary and Joe Don Rooney credit to their hits and their fans.
“It all boils down to the songs, you know. We’ve written some really good ones and we’ve been blessed a million times over with the songwriters here in Nashville and all over the world, really, writing great stuff. So we’ve been just fortunate to be able to tell people’s stories and their life journeys through music. So it all starts and ends with a great song and without that you really don’t have anything, so that’s where it all starts and ends. (Joe Don Rooney) And our fans, you know, our fans are incredible (absolutely). They’re still with us every step of the way and it’s incredible to see some of the younger fans that’s grown up with us now, they’ve graduated college, moved on, have jobs, have families of their own, bringing out their kids now and it’s pretty incredible.”
Here are some tour dates of note:
6/12 Detroit, MI – DTE Energy Music Theatre
9/3 Toronto, ON – Budweiser Stage
9/5 Buffalo, NY – Darien Lake Amphitheater
