Grand Ole Opry Closes Doors
March 17, 2020 3:00 pmBoth the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame have seen unprecedented closings due to coronavirus fears.
The Opry closed its doors to a live audience beginning this past weekend and has cancelled all shows except for Saturday night performances until April 4th.
Those Saturday night shows can only be heard via opry.com and wsmonline.com, as well as on Sirius XM satellite radio.
This is only the second time the Opry has ever cancelled a show. The first was in 1968 when a citywide curfew was imposed in Nashville following the assassination of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. in Memphis.
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has closed its doors for the rest of the month, out of “an abundance of caution” relating to COVID-19. The museum, including Hatch Show Print, the CMA Theater, and tours of RCA Studio B on Music Row will remain closed through March 31st.
