‘Lady A’ Talks Go South

Lady A and the Seattle-based blues singer who also goes by Lady A had a virtual media on Monday, June 15th, which went well at the time but has since taken a turn.

At the time, the blues singer, whose real name is Anita White, told The Seattle Times,

“We all want everyone to know that this meeting artist to artist was productive, meaningful, heartfelt. Any time you can start a meeting with prayer is a good meeting for me. Now we move forward with more to come.”

Lady A turned to social media to share a picture of the video conference.

“Today, we connected privately with the artist Lady A. Transparent, honest, and authentic conversations were had. We are excited to share we are moving forward with positive solutions and common ground. The hurt is turning into hope. More to come.”

Things seemed to have soured in the meantime. In an email to Newsday, White wrote,

“I received a draft agreement from the Antebellum camp. I’m not happy about (it) yet again after talking in good faith . . . Their camp is trying to erase me . . . Trust is important and I no longer trust them.”

She adds that she will have “more to say” on Wednesday, June 17th.

Country group Lady A have not commented on this latest development.

Last week, Lady A, formerly Lady Antebellum, announced a permanent name change to disassociate themselves with the “word referring to the period of history before The Civil War, which includes slavery.”

White has worked professionally under the name Lady A for the past 20 years.
