Garth Brooks To Perform At U.S. Presidential Inauguration
January 19, 2021 5:35 amGarth Brooks will join Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga to perform at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, January 20th as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States.
Garth shared the big news via a Zoom press conference on Monday, January 18th.
“This is a great day in our household. This is not a political statement. This is a statement of unity. This is history! And it’s an honour to get to serve. This is kinda how I get to serve this country. Our father served as a United States Marine in the Korean War; we had brothers that served in the Air Force and the Army. This is my chance to get to serve.”
Garth is hoping that his performance will help unify people from all walks of life.
“In this case, you must rise beyond red and blue. You must rise beyond Black and white, gay/straight, male/female. Look at it from above. Look at it as America. And that’s always kind of been my thing. You are all welcome at a Garth Brooks concert. And then the whole mission of a Garth Brooks concert is for the people that come watch the show to leave the show loving each other more than when they came in. That’s never going to change for me.”
Garth previously performed at an inaugural concert for Barack Obama.
He was asked to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration but had a prescheduled tour date.
