Tenessee Proposes Adding Dolly Parton Statue
January 19, 2021 8:45 amA Tennessee state lawmaker has proposed that a Dolly Parton statue be added to the state capitol in Nashville.
Rep. John Mark Windle, a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, introduced the bill as a way of celebrating Dolly’s Parton’s contributions to her home state.
Those contributions include her Imagination Library, Dollywood theme park, and the $1 million donation she made to Vanderbilt University to aid in their research to help in the development of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine currently being distributed around the country.
Windle said,
“At this point in history, is there a better example, not just in America but in the world, of a leader that is (a) kind, decent, passionate human being?” He added that Dolly is “a passionate person who loves everyone, and everyone loves her.”
Dolly turns 75 on Tuesday, January 19th.
