Morgan Wallen wrote a three-page note to fans which he posted on Instagram on Tuesday, April 13th.

He thanked them for their support with his record-setting album, Dangerous: The Double Album, which held the Number One spot on the Billboard 200 chart for a whopping 10 consecutive weeks.

He also shared his decision to bow out of any and all tour dates this summer to continue working on himself.

Morgan specifically mentioned the scheduled tour dates with Luke Bryan as well as festivals, but he still wants fans to attend, writing,

“It’s important to me personally, if you can still go to these shows — support country music. Country music is back and that’s a beautiful damn thing. I’ve found this time away to be very valuable in many ways, but I feel like I need a little more of it . . . I . . . feel like I’ve really worked on myself. I’m proud of the work I’ve put in, and in many ways thankful to have had the time to do it. I needed this time off. I’ve made some mistakes, I’m figuring those out,  I apologized because I was truly sorry and have been making amends.”

He is referring to his use of a racial slur, which was captured on a neighbour’s recording after a drunken night out with friends.

The incident cost him radio airplay, a booking agent, a recording suspension from his label and a ban from attending or being nominated for anything at the ACM Awards.

The Awards will be held on Sunday, April 18th, and earlier this week, six outdoor billboards popped up around Nashville that was paid for by fans who call him their Entertainer of the Year.

Taste of Country reports that those signs will stay up for one week and that his fans are expected to continue their protest during the ACM Awards.
