Dierks Bentley Doesn’t Think He’ll Win Male Vocalist
November 10, 2021 5:50 amDierks Bentley has a one-in-five chance of winning Male Vocalist of the Year at the CMA Awards tonight.
But the poor guy is already counting himself out because he’s been down this road too many times before.
“I think I’ve been nominated for Male Vocalist, like 12 times. It’s a lot, and I’m super grateful for each one. I’m like the Susan Lucci of Male Vocalist nominations, but I’ll take it. Make no mistake, it would be nice to win.”
If you’re not familiar with soap star Susan Lucci, she had 21 Emmy nominations and only won once.
If he did win, he’d finally be able to say he’s a better singer than Chris Stapleton.
“If I had this hardware that’s backed by scientific data, people might actually start believing me when I say, ‘Yo, I’ve been telling you I’m a much better singer than Chris Stapleton, and look I have this plastic trophy here to prove it.'”
Dierks has performed on the show several times and this year he’ll be joined on stage by Hardy and Breland to sing “Beer’s on Me.”
The CMA Awards will broadcast live from Nashville at 8 p.m. tomight on ABC.
