Tennessee has become the first state in the United States to pass legislation to protect musicians from artificial intelligence.

The bill is called the Ensuring Likeness Voice and Image Security Act, or the ELVIS Act.

It prohibits anyone from using A.I. to mimic an artist’s voice without their permission.

It takes effect on July 1st. Governor Bill Lee signed it inside the Nashville honky tonk

Robert’s Western World, accompanied by Chris Janson and Luke Bryan, who called it, quote, “an amazing precedent.”
