Dolly Parton Gives Health Update
March 16, 2026 8:15 amDolly Parton made a rare public appearance on Friday, March 13 to give a speech at Dollywood’s opening day for its 41st anniversary.
She put any concerned fans at ease with an update on her health
“I’ve not been touring, as you know. I’ve had a few little health issues, and we’re taking good care of them. I just kind of got worn down and worn out, grieving over Carl [Dean] and a lot of other little things going on. I just got myself kind of where I needed to build myself back up spiritually, emotionally, and physically. But, all is good. It didn’t slow me down.”
Carl passed away last March at 82 years old. He and Dolly were married for 58 years. And Dolly isn’t looking for anyone new to take his place.
She says she thinks he’s waiting for her.
“If I should show up at the pearly gates with somebody else, he would not like that. He’d be saying, ‘Who’s that little pisser? You leave him outside the gates.'”
