Steven Lee Olsen Joined Cordell On Windsor’s Country Mornings
December 19, 2018 9:12 pmThe Newmarket, Ont singer dropped by to perform a couple of songs LIVE and chat about writing Keith Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Colour.”
Steven Lee Olsen is no stranger to the Canadian country charts, having charted with several songs over the years (“Make Hay While the Sun Shine”, “Never Done it Like This”, “Raised by a Good Time”, and “Just Like Love.” But he’s also enjoyed great success as a songwriter for Canadian and international acts likeĀ Billy Currington and Craig Morgan. But it was 2017’s “Blue Ain’t Your Colour”, which he wrote for Keith Urban (along with Hillary Lindsey and Clint Lagerburger), that garnered him Grammy, CMA and ACM nominations, forever changing his life and potentially his style of music. Steven came onto the show to perform that award-winning song as well as his new single, “Timing is Everything” and discussed how one hit song can change everything.
It should be pointed out that Steven arrived wearing, in the spirit of the holiday, a Santa’s “reindeer” costume that, on further inspection, turned out to be a moose costume. He’s the first country artist to visit our studio dressed as either. haha
Steven also brought his girlfriend (who happens to hail from Detroit) and his dog, Rosco (who delightfully took over the studio!)
The On-Air Interview and Performances
We also challenged Steven to our first-ever edition of “Paddle Me!” The challenge in this first edition was for Steven, who’s been living in Nashville for the last 14 years, to identify whether crazy and forgotten laws still on the books are laws from Ontario or from Tennessee…
