The owners of a home in St. Catherine’s that have a coffin repurposed as a flowerbed on their front lawn have won their fight to keep the unique decoration.

Christina Calbury and her boyfriend Matt, from St. Catharine’s love horror movies and all things Halloween so naturally, she jumped at the chance to get a coffin when  she saw someone selling some on Facebook Marketplace last month.

The couple decide to make it into a flowerbed which would be placed in the backyard. But their coffin/bed looked so good, they got another one for the front lawn.

Christina said reaction was positive.  Some people even stopped to take pictures.

However, at least one neighbour did not see the appeal and filed a complaint with the city who told them due to a city by law they had to remove it.

The bylaw in question basically says if your item is not used for its intended purpose its considered garbage.

Well , he would not leave the city alone and this story went viral. Since then, the Bylaw complaint has been closed.

Christina said she was thrilled by the reversal by the city and hopes to spread the word about her coffin/flower bed hack.
