Vince Gill Writes Preface For Ty Herndon’s Truth-Telling Memoir

Vince Gill penned the preface for Ty Herndon’s new memoir, What Mattered Most, which details the singer’s struggles with addiction and trauma.

When Herndon asked Gill to contribute, the legend immediately agreed without reading the book first.

“I don’t need to read this book. I’ve followed you. I know you. You’re a friend. I will proudly read this preface for you.”

Gill also recorded the audiobook preface, moving Herndon to tears with his heartfelt delivery.

The memoir opens up about Herndon’s crystal meth addiction, sexual abuse during his early career, and a 2020 suicide attempt.
