Trace Adkins Jokes About Being Shot By His Second Wife

Trace Adkins opened up about getting shot by his second wife Julie Curtis in 1994. 

He joked on Theo Von’s podcast that the shooting took things a little far and was totally uncalled for.

They were arguing about his drinking, and she shot him under his left arm.  The bullet went through both lungs and his heart before exiting out his right arm.

“I just remember getting off the floor, taking a few steps and then going back down.  That’s all I remember.”

Trace had to be airlifted to the hospital for emergency surgery.  Doctors said the only reason he survived is because he was shot at point-blank range, so the bullet didn’t have time to mushroom.

He’s forgiven Julie. 

“I’ve just always felt like I don’t think she meant to do it.  I just don’t think she thought it was gonna hurt me.  She thought I was indestructible.”

They divorced later that year, and Trace didn’t press charges.
