The show promoted his upcoming album, That’s Just Me, and fans quickly took to Instagram to voice their displeasure.

“You need to grow the mustache back ASAP,” one commenter declared. Another wrote that her four-year-old daughter “doesn’t approve.”

Not everyone objected; some fans said he looked “pretty good” without it.

“I always tend to make sure I find a way to write from that same place that got me here — small-town Alabama.”
